Another wedding double-header for the Moon Loungers at Cadbury House and Priston Mill
Performing at two weddings in a day isn’t something the Moon Loungers do that often, so it’s very unusual to have two double-headers in the space of a week… This time it was Cadbury House in Somerset followed by another Priston Mill wedding, all in the space of about 12 hours!
As per last weekend, the weather was again really good (having been rubbish throughout the week – miraculous stuff), which meant the ceremony and drinks reception at Cadbury House would be happening outside – hurray! We set up for the ceremony on the gazebo (see above), and then spent about an hour figuring out exactly where the guests would be for the drinks. After consulting a number of staff members and getting 3 or 4 different suggestions, we eventually positioned ourselves in front of the main house.
It was then back to the gazebo, and for the first time we actually played an entire song as the bride entered! The song choice was “Here, There and Everywhere” and we even tagged a couple of bars on at the end.
For the signing of the register we played “It Must Be Love” and “Time of Your Life” – with the groom singing along as he posed for photos – before playing everyone out to “All You Need Is Love” to finish a really enjoyable ceremony (although Chris did burn his face – you can’t have it all).
As hoped, the guests moved across to the lawn in front of the main building, and we played a couple of sets while they sipped on Pimms and various photographs were taken. We then treated ourselves to some food from the bar, before hitting the road and heading across Somerset for our evening engagement at Priston Mill.
This week we were playing in the Mill (above),where we convened with Stu the drummer once again. After a first dance of “Hard to Concentrate” by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers we played a couple of lively sets, finishing up with a two-song encore featuring our new cover of “Rolling in the Deep”. The disco saw things through to midnight to complete another triumphant day’s work.
Thanks to all the guests who were generous with their compliments and congrats to the happy couples!
