The Moon Loungers perform at the Frenchay After Burns Unit annual summer ball
The Moon Loungers took a break from their busy summer wedding schedule to perform at the annual fundraiser for the Frenchay After Burns (FAB) Children’s Club. This was our third apearance at this summer ball, and once again it turned out to be a brilliant night.
The event took place at Tortworth Court in the venue’s main function room, boasting the distinguished title of “The Westminster Suite”. As per last year we arrived early and set up in the middle of the room, ensuring we would be in amongst it – always a problem when we are set up on the stage at the far end of what is a cavernous room!
The sense of de-ja-vu was bolstered by the fact that Andy Murray was appearing in the Wimbledon semi-final, as he had done on the same night as the FAB Club ball last year. Once again we headed to the bar to watch him, the difference on this occasion being that he actually won…
Drinks were served as guests arrived at 7pm, and with a 3 course meal, speeches, auction and raffle taking place it shouldn’t have been a surprise that we started late – about 10.40 I think… The two-set approach was therefore immediately scrapped in favour of one extended, marathon set that saw the dance floor completely packed with enthusiastic revellers from start to finish. We obliged the requests for an encore with 3 songs that took us up to about 12.20, at which point the disco took over until 1pm to complete a splendid evening.
Well done to Lizzie and the team for organising another brilliant event. Feel free to check out the FAB Club web site and find out more about this excellent charity! www.fabclub.org.uk
