The Moon Loungers wedding band perform at a drinks reception and evening party at Guyers House in Corsham, Wiltshire
On Saturday the Moon Loungers returned to a venue previously performed at just the once a few years ago – Guyers House near Corsham.
First off, the acoustic duo performed during the drinks reception, and with the weather forecasts predicting a dry afternoon we set up outside with our fingers crossed… the guests arrived at 1.30 followed by the bride and groom shortly afterwards, and the rain held off for us to perform a really enjoyable set of music. Fearing rain (you’d never tell that we’ve been stitched up many times before by the British weather…) we chose not to take a break while the dry conditions continued, and ended up playing solidly for well over 1.5 hours – but it was great fun so no complaints!
Once the guests were ushered inside for the wedding breakfast we headed to the nearby Hare & Hounds for a spot of food, before returning to the venue and meeting up with Stu our drummer for the evening party. We set up in the ballroom – a small medieval looking hall with lots of hard edges (so lots of fun with the acoustics!)….
Thankfully our ever-reliable sound system was able to cope and we kicked off with a double first dance of the Blower’s Daughter and Chasing Cars. Despite the lure of the bar and countless other little side rooms throughout the venue, we managed to keep a hardcore of guests in the room for the first set before taking a break while the buffet was consumed.
We were back for the second set around 10.00 and once again succesfully enticed a good number of guests into our medieval lair for a dance. Once we’d finished it seemed harsh not to knock out a couple of encores, so we duly obliged before letting the disco take over for the final throes of the evening. Another great wedding and yet another great couple – well done all!
