An enjoyable gig at Cleeve House in Wiltshire, and a bridal gown launch event at Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire
It was a busy weekend for the Moonies, getting us back into the swing of things after a couple of weeks off.
On Saturday night we headed to Cleeve House, a marvellous old manor house in Wiltshire that we’ve never been to before.
Set up was nice and easy in the Great Hall, and once the speeches had been completed outside (it was amazingly good weather for the time of year) we sound checked and were good to go. Only issue was that, given it was a late wedding with no meal, everyone was now queuing for evening food at the impressive fish and chip bus outside!
Not to worry. The bride and groom managed to munch down their ample portions of food and get themselves ready for the first dance in impressively quick time. The song of choice was “Thinking Out Loud”, which always goes down well, and off we went from there with a well-received first set.
During the break it was our turn to tuck into the fish and chip van’s wares – very good as well. By the second set the guests were a bit more loosened up (with lots of them sporting some amazing face paint – father of the bride included), which meant plenty of dancing and some lovely singing along… Naturally, we knocked out a generous 3-song encore before turning to the disco for the remainder of the night – “Yeah” by Usher proving to be the unexpected favourite of the lads.
Whilst packing away Chris couldn’t resist a pic with Rodney the groom – what a lovely man. This must have been fun to wash off…
The following evening we performed as an acoustic duo in the Orangery at Tortworth. This was a more sedate affair (no facepaints, sadly), our job being to provide background tunes while the folk from bridal gown manufacturers Benjamin Roberts enjoyed a relaxing meal to finish off their busy launch day. You can’t go far wrong with the orangery in our opinion – great lighting, always a nice atmosphere, and the perfect location for this event. Well done everyone.
We have lots more April gigs coming so watch this space for all the latest!
